This Privacy Policy explains how Founder Market Fit ("Founder Market Fit," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you visit foundermarketfit.co and related subdomains (the "Site") or use our assessment, matching, dossier, and related services (collectively, the "Services").

1. Who we are

Founder Market Fit is a software service that helps individuals evaluate venture and product opportunities against their own work history, public footprint, and stated interests. We operate the Site and Services from the United States. For privacy requests, contact hello@foundermarketfit.co.

2. Information we collect

We collect information in the following categories:

  • Account and identity data — name, email address, authentication identifiers (including from our sign-in provider when you create or access an account), and session cookies needed to keep you signed in.
  • Assessment inputs you provide — employment history fields, domains of expertise, verifiable results, interview answers, bets/side projects, uploaded résumé files, nominated URLs, LinkedIn or GitHub profile URLs you attest ownership of, personal or portfolio website URLs, pasted notes, and any other materials you submit.
  • Derived profile data — evidence extracts, edge profiles, match scores, recommendations, dossier HTML, and related reasoning generated from materials you approve for processing.
  • Technical and usage data — IP address, browser type, device information, approximate location derived from IP, pages viewed, referring URLs, timestamps, and product analytics events (for example page views, feature use, and error diagnostics).
  • Communications — messages you send us (email or in-product), and transactional emails we send about your assessment.

We do not ask you to provide, and ask that you not submit, sensitive categories such as health conditions, religion, political opinions, sexual orientation, family/marital status, or union membership. If such information appears incidentally in materials you upload, we do not use it as a matching signal.

3. Sources of information

  • Directly from you — forms, uploads, interview answers, and URLs you nominate.
  • From pages and profiles you ask us to read — when you provide a personal site, LinkedIn URL, GitHub URL, or other nominated link and consent to processing, we may fetch publicly available content from that URL (and discover outbound profile or product links on a site you nominate). Failed fetches are recorded as failures; we do not invent profile text.
  • From service providers — authentication, hosting, email delivery, analytics, and web-fetch infrastructure acting on our behalf.

We do not purchase marketing lists of individuals for cold outreach as part of the consumer assessment product described on the Site.

4. How we use information

We use information to:

  • Provide, operate, and improve the Services (including matching and dossier generation);
  • Authenticate you and secure accounts and sessions;
  • Send transactional messages (invite links, assessment status, support replies);
  • Measure product performance, diagnose errors, and prevent abuse or fraud;
  • Comply with law, enforce our Terms of Service, and protect rights and safety;
  • With your direction, generate recommendations, evidence ledgers, and related outputs for your review.

We do not post to your social accounts, send messages as you, or sell your personal information for money.

5. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)

Where applicable data-protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on:

  • Contract — to provide the Services you request;
  • Legitimate interests — to secure, improve, and understand the Services, balanced against your rights;
  • Consent — where we ask for consent to process particular sources (for example nominated URLs) or optional analytics cookies, which you may withdraw;
  • Legal obligation — when we must retain or disclose information to comply with law.

6. Sharing and processors

We share personal information with vendors that help us run the Services, under confidentiality and data-processing terms appropriate to their role. Categories include:

  • Cloud hosting and databases;
  • Authentication providers;
  • Email delivery;
  • Product analytics and error monitoring;
  • Web scraping / page-fetch infrastructure for URLs you nominate;
  • AI model providers used to extract evidence and generate recommendations from your approved materials.

We may also disclose information if required by law, legal process, or government request; to protect the rights, property, or safety of Founder Market Fit, our users, or the public; or in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets (in which case we will require the recipient to honor this Policy or provide notice of changes).

We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

7. Retention

We retain assessment materials and derived outputs for as long as your account/dossier remains active and as needed to provide the Services, typically aligned with retention periods shown at consent (for example 90 days for certain nominated sources unless you delete sooner), and thereafter for a limited period for backups, security, dispute resolution, and legal compliance. You may request deletion as described below; some records may persist in secure backups for a short additional period before irreversible deletion.

8. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information (including encrypted transport, access controls, and least-privilege service credentials). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your choices and rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to:

  • Access, correct, or delete personal information;
  • Export a copy of data you provided;
  • Withdraw consent for processing of particular sources;
  • Object to or restrict certain processing;
  • Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

In-product controls may let you remove sources or delete an assessment. You can also email hello@foundermarketfit.co. We will respond within a reasonable period and as required by law. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.

California residents: We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA. You may request know/delete/correct rights via the contact above. We will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights.

10. Cookies and similar technologies

We use essential cookies for authentication and session integrity. We may also use analytics tools that set cookies or local storage to understand product usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling essential cookies may break sign-in or assessment flows.

11. International transfers

We are based in the United States. If you access the Services from another country, your information may be processed in the United States and other locations where our providers operate. Where required, we use appropriate transfer mechanisms.

12. Children

The Services are not directed to children under 16 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and we will delete it.

13. Automated processing

Matching and recommendations use automated systems (including large language models) to analyze materials you approve. Outputs are decision-support tools, not guarantees of business success, and are not used as the sole basis for legal or similarly significant decisions about you by Founder Market Fit. You can review, challenge, or discard recommendations in the product.

14. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the "Last updated" date. Material changes may also be communicated by email or in-product notice where appropriate. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
